Alexandre Santos takes charge of Nacional

Alexandre Santos is the new head coach of Nacional. The 49-year-old Portuguese coach has signed a contract until the end of the current season.
The coach was presented on Monday at the Estádio da Madeira and made clear his determination to embrace the opportunity to take charge of a team in the Portuguese top flight for the first time: “I’m very happy to have joined Nacional and I’m certain that I’m ready for this challenge.”
Alexandre Santos arrives in Madeira after a spell at Kuwait SC. Last season, he was in charge of Moroccan side FAR Rabat.
His career has also included spells in Angolan, Tunisian and Portuguese football. During his time at Petro de Luanda, he won three Angolan league titles, three Angolan Cups and one Super Cup.
Nacional currently sit 10th in the Primeira Liga. Alexandre Santos will make his debut on the bench on Saturday, when Nacional host Alverca at the Choupana.
